Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem AlKhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Pharmacy / University of Baghdad, in collaboration with Ibn Sina E-Learning Unit and the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division, held an online training workshop titled “Scientific Publishing: Navigating Challenges on the path to success”, delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Kawther Khalid Ahmed, Head of the Quality Assurance Division at the College.
The workshop aimed to familiarize faculty members and researchers with the available tools in the Scopus database, such as the author profile, author ID, h-index, scientific journal rankings, and how to search for journals in specific fields based on the researcher’s specialization. It also emphasized the importance of the ORCID researcher ID and how to verify the credibility of scientific journals.
The workshop covered several key topics, most importantly indexing platforms and abstract and citation databases, researcher profiles and accounts, the resources available to researchers on publishing houses websites, and the website of the Department of Research and Development in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The workshop concluded by stressing the importance of researchers regularly updating and monitoring their Scopus profiles and focusing on publishing within their areas of specialization.
