Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled “An Innovative Technologies in Pharmaceuticals and Multidisciplinary Applications”, delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Zainab Thabit Salih, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutics Department.
The workshop aimed to familiarize participants with the operational principles of the probe sonicator and its basic components, as well as to understand its various applications in research and industrial fields. In addition to theoretical knowledge, it also aimed to develop their practical skills in operating the instrument and adjusting its parameters. The training included sample preparation techniques and analysis of results. The workshop also focused on ensuring safe use and avoiding common operational errors.
The workshop included several topics, including an introduction to the Probe Sonicator and its basic components, an explanation of the phenomena resulting from the instrument’s operation, an overview of the instrument’s practical applications, and hands-on training, including sample processing, parameter adjustment, and troubleshooting.
The workshop concluded that the Probe Sonicator is a highly effective and versatile instrument for both academic research and industrial applications, due to its high efficiency in particle size reduction, preparation of nanostructured systems, and enhancement of the homogeneity and efficacy of formulations. Furthermore, the workshop emphasized the importance of understanding the instrument’s components and properly adjusting its operational parameters to achieve optimal performance. It also highlighted the necessity of adhering to correct operating procedures to avoid errors and preserve sample integrity, thereby enhancing the quality of research and applied work in pharmaceutical and technological fields.
