Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled “Types of Centrifugation with Principles and Uses” delivered by Assistant Lecturer Maysam Ameer Hussein, a faculty member at the Pharmacology and Toxicology Department.

The workshop aimed to provide an understanding of centrifugation types, principles and uses.

The workshop included several topics, including an elucidation of centrifugation types, choosing the appropriate type of centrifuges, components and special features of refrigerated centrifuges, the principle of operation, types of refrigerated centrifuges, and how to choose the best refrigerated centrifuge for specific laboratory requirements.

The workshop concluded that the centrifuge is a versatile tool that is essential for separating particles in laboratories and industry, and the choice of type depends on the use, sample volume, and density. In addition, the cooling feature is essential for temperature-sensitive samples, and regular maintenance of the device is required to ensure accurate performance.
