Under the direct sponsorship and supervision of the Deanship of the College of Pharmacy, represented by the Dean, Assistant Professor, Dr Sarmed H. Kathum Al-Khateeb an awareness campaign on dementia was held under the slogan “Be with us in the violet sky” organized by a group of fourth stage students under the supervision of their teachers Lec. Dr. Shaymaa A Majed , lecturer in the clinical laboratory sciences department and Lec. Dr. Ali A Ali, lecturer in the clinical pharmacy department. The activity included displaying scientific posters that narrated information about the dementia syndrome, which is characterized by a deterioration in memory, thinking, behavior, and the ability to carry out daily activities. Although dementia primarily affects the elderly, it is not considered a normal part of aging. There are around 50 million people with dementia. This number is expected to triple by 2050. The posters also refers to types of dementia, and tips for dealing with people with it, as each person can contribute to improving the living conditions of dementia patients through his personal behavior. During their presentation of the posters, the students confirmed that people with dementia lose their ability to remember over time, emphasizing that “the most important thing is that we do not forget them.” Then an art exhibition was opened, prepared by the fingers of our dear students, which included artistic paintings. Colors, like melodies, elevate the spirit, nourish the nerves, and relax the senses. All this was followed by a tour that the students took with their professors to distribute awareness leaflets in the compound of Bab al-Muadham Colleges and to the staff inside the college. The day was full of fun , scientific interest, breaking the routine of the school day, and developing and encouraging students’ ability to recite.
