Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum AlKhateeb, the Scientific Affairs Unit at the College of Pharmacy / University of Baghdad held a scientific seminar delivered by an assistant lecturer, a faculty member in the Pharmaceutical chemistry Department, on the monkey pox disease. The workshop aims to summarize, identify the disease and its causative agents and discuss its treatment. The lecture included various axes, such as an introduction to the monkeypox disease and its causative agents, the incubation period, signs and symptoms, prophylaxis, and treatment. The disease is caused by the smallpox virus and is transmitted from infected monkeys, rats, and squirrels through respiratory secretions and contaminated blood. It causes skin rashes, flu-like symptoms, and lymphadenopathy. The incubation period is 2 weeks, and the illness period 2 weeks too. There will be some treatments and vaccines used after 2022.
