Under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Baghdad.The continuing education unit at the college, established a workshop in the Industrial Research and Development Authority/Veterinary Medicine Research and Production Center under the title (Preparation and Formulation of Sterile Pharmaceutical Product) that was given by Dr. Lubna Abdalkarim Sabri, a Faculty member in the Department of Pharmaceutics department. The workshop aimed to provide an overview of recommended terminal and nonterminal sterilization processes, their control, and their validation according to the guidelines of the European Medical Agency. The workshop also defines the general and category-specific pharmacopoeial requirements for sterile preparations, which include (injections, infusions, concentrated injections, powders, gels, and implants). The workshop also dealt with quality control tests for final parenteral products and identifying excipients that can be added to improve the quality of the pharmaceutical product. The different routes for parenteral administration to animals, which include intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intraperitonal, intradermal, and epidural injections, are also identified.
