A faculty member from the Clinical Pharmacy Department at the University of Baghdad College of Pharmacy (Associate Professor Dr. Ali Azeez Ali) with a PhD presented a summary of two pharmacoeconomic studies at the meeting of the National Board of Drug Selection (NBDS) at the Ministry of Health, which is responsible for the approval of new medications. The study was a part of the postgraduate (MSc) project of pharmacist Hassan Raed (Clinical Pharmacy Department) in collaboration with rheumatology specialist Dr Nizar Abdul-Lateef from the University of Baghdad College of Medicine and practicing at the Medical City Complex. The study aligns with the college’s efforts to comply with UN sustainable development goals, specifically the SDG17 partnership goals. The project was conducted in collaboration between the university and healthcare settings to adopt the research findings of policymakers. The presentation and studies were acknowledged by the NBDS chief and members as the first studies in pharmacoeconomics studies in Iraq, and their findings can be helpful in future decisions.
