Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, and as a part of the faculty’s activities for the Global Entrepreneurship Week, Assistant Lecturer Mustafa Luay Abdulhadi, an employee at the Ministry of Education/General Directorate of Education in Baghdad Al-Karkh/Preparation and Training Department, delivered a lecture entitled “Entrepreneurship: The Engine for Achieving Comprehensive Economic Growth in Iraq”. The lecture addressed the topic of entrepreneurship in general and its contribution to supporting national economic growth by transforming innovative ideas into profitable business projects. It also discussed providing employment opportunities for youth, improving the living standards of the community members, offering an alternative national product to imported ones, and thereby preserving hard currency within the country. This, in turn, supports comprehensive development plans for the national economy. The lecture also dealt with the concept of entrepreneurship, the necessary qualities for an entrepreneur, the differences between traditional and entrepreneurial businesses, and the key challenges and difficulties that entrepreneurs face in our current times.
