Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit in the College of the Pharmacy/University of Baghdad, held an in-person scientific workshop delivered by Lecturer Dr. Lubna Sabri and Assistant Professor Omar Saeb, faculty members in the Pharmaceutics Department, on “How to choose and publish in scientific journals indexed in Scopus or Clarivate.” The workshop aimed to understand how a researcher could select and publish research in scientific journals indexed in reputable databases like Scopus and Clarivate (Web of Science). It is a critical process for researchers seeking broad visibility and academic recognition. The workshop involved the discussion of many criteria, such as cite score, H-index, impact factor, peer review process, and relevance to the research topic. The workshop covered aspects like adherence to journal guidelines, proper structuring, and the significance of clear and concise language. Additionally, it addresses the importance of understanding the submission and review process, including ethical considerations and responses to reviewers’ feedback, with an emphasis on participants gaining basic insights to enhance their ability to choose the right journals and increase the likelihood of their successful publication in esteemed scientific databases.
