Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Ibn Sina Unit at the College of Pharmacy/University of Baghdad, held an electronic awareness symposium entitled (Sexual identity and homosexuality: Are they two sides of the same coin?) presented by Lecturer Doha Abdel-Sahib, a faculty member at the Department of Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants. The aim of the symposium was to define the concept of sexual identity and the danger of some of the terms promoted on internet websites whose purpose is to spread moral depravity. The symposium also focused on ways to protect society from deviant ideas and homosexuality.The symposium covered many topics, such as human races, sexual identity, the LGBT community, the factors affecting the determination of sexual and gender identity, and the legal and religious vision for deviant thoughts. It also dealt with the psychological effects and damage of abnormal behaviors. It recommended the necessity of adhering to the social values approved by the divine religions, rejecting the customs and behaviors promoted by the West, and adhering to our high religious principles. Finally, the questions and inquiries of the attendees were answered.
