Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the College of Pharmacy/University of Baghdad held an awareness campaign about dyslexia under the slogan “Great Minds Think Differently,” on Wednesday, 6 December 2023, organized by a group of fourth-year students under the supervision of Lecturer Dr. Shaymaa Abdel Zahra, a faculty member at the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Department, and Assistant Professor Dr. Fadya Yaqoub Al-Hamdani, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Aziz Al-Jumaili, and Lecturer Dr. Muhammad Yawaz, faculty members at the Clinical Pharmacy Department. The activity included the presentation of scientific posters to guide college students to the symptoms that indicate any condition and enlighten them on the necessity of early treatment of any type of difficulty they may face during their learning. The campaign aimed to educate faculty members about the growing scale of the problem and the need for them to be open when dealing with students during classes and exams. In addition, the campaign aimed to emphasize the importance of every student, male or female, undergoing a self-test to verify the presence of any type of learning difficulty that may affect their complete academic achievement. Pictures of a number of the greatest and most famous people of thought, science, literature, art, and politics in the world topped the exhibition that was held for this purpose in the college courtyard, as they and other celebrities were exposed in their early school stages to learning difficulties, but they persevered and overcame them and continued on the journey of genius and distinction, impressing the world with their achievements.
