Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Scientific Affairs Unit in the College of Pharmacy/University of Baghdad, held an in-person scientific seminar on therapeutic drug monitoring of infliximab and azathioprine to predict response in Iraqi patients with moderate to severe inflammatory bowel disease, delivered by Hussein Hazem Saleh, PhD student in the Clinical Pharmacy Department. The seminar aimed to raise knowledge regarding the importance of therapeutic drug monitoring of infliximab to reach the target drug level, to determine the resistance cases to therapy, and to give a recommendation to physicians to adjust dosage or change to another effective drug, in addition to addressing the importance of providing healthcare organizations with test kits for infliximab level. The lecture included various topics, including the definition of inflammatory bowel disease, inflammatory bowel disease causes, and the definition of therapeutic drug monitoring of infliximab and its benefits.
