Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Scientific Affairs Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person scientific seminar about “Oxidative Stress Biomarkers in Diabetic Retinopathy,” presented by pharmacist Sarah Hashim Mhaibes, a PhD student at the Clinical Laboratory Sciences department.   The workshop aimed to explain the causes that lead to diabetic retinopathy and the role of oxidative stress in its formation. In addition to clarifying the possibility of using antioxidants to reduce the risk of vision loss in diabetic retinopathy.The lecture included various topics, such as giving an introduction to retinopathy caused by increased biomarkers of oxidative stress in diabetes, explaining the types of diabetic retinopathy, and targeting oxidative stress as a treatment for diabetic retinopathy.
