Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Student Activities Unit, and in cooperation with the Pharmaceutical Chemistry department at the College of Pharmacy/University of Baghdad, held an extra-curricular awareness activity on laboratory safety measures. The activity included an awareness lecture on laboratory safety precautions that must be taken while working in chemistry laboratories. The lecture aimed to educate students about the safety precautions that must be taken in the laboratory and how to deal with chemicals, in addition to the importance of knowing the labels written on chemical containers before using them. The activity also included an exhibition of posters and paintings made by a number of the second-year students under the supervision of their lecturers, which explained laboratory safety rules. At the end of the activity, awareness leaflets were distributed with a full explanation of the safety precautions that must be taken when dealing with chemical materials in the laboratories.
