The faculty member at the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Azeez Ali, won one of the first ten places in the competition of the Warith Al-Anbiya Award for Research Excellence in the field of medical sciences for the year 2023, where the number of applicants exceeded 300 applicants from various Iraqi colleges and universities, and Dr. Ali is the only representative of the University of Baghdad in the discipline of medical research within the top ten.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Ali Azeez has one of the highest H-indexes (12) among the faculty of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Baghdad, with 57 published research papers and 539 citations within the SCOPUS Index. The conditions for applying for the competition were as follows: that the applicant’s H-index should not be less than 10 in the Scopus Index and that they should have at least five research papers published in Scopus including one of them in Q1 journal in 2023.

The evaluation was based on the total number of citations of researchers in Scopus and Web of Science in addition to the number of research published in the Scopus inventory in 2023. The winners were honored at a ceremony hosted by Warith Al-Anbiya University in Karbala and in the presence of the Scientific Undersecretary of the Minister of Higher Education and the Secretary-General of the Husseiniya Shrine and Dr. Ibrahim Saeed Al-Hayawi, President of the University of Warith Al-Anbiya University.
