Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/ College of Pharmacy, held an in-person workshop entitled “Misuse of Analgesics” delivered by Assistant Lecturer Angham Ahmed Hassan, a faculty member at the Clinical Pharmacy Department.The workshop aimed to shed light on the most common types of misuse of pain relievers and how to reduce the resulting risks. It covered several key areas including defining and clarifying types of pain relievers, types of misuse, clinical studies on certain medical conditions resulting from misuse of these medications, as well as advice and guidance on reducing misuse of pain relievers at both individual and public health levels. The workshop concluded that by working together at the individual, service provider, and public health levels, significant strides can be made in reducing misuse of pain relievers and improving pain management for everyone.
