As part of the College of Pharmacy’s plan to improve its services, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Dean of the College, alongside his assistants for academic and administrative affairs, Associate Professor Dr. Munaf H. Abdul Razzaq and Associate Professor Dr. Shihab Hattab Mutlag, as well as a number of department heads,  and the Head of the Media Division, along with several faculty members, inaugurated the newly renovated faculty parking lot, which has been equipped with solar energy panels.

Some of the features of the new parking lot include:

  • Providing shade and shelter for vehicles from sunlight and other weather conditions.
  • Using the generated energy to charge electric vehicles and provide lighting for the parking lot at night or when needed.
  • Generating electricity near the place of use, which reduces transmission losses and eases the load on the electrical grid.
  • Enhancing the aesthetics and adding value to the parking lot and surrounding buildings, while increasing awareness of and investment in renewable energy.

It is also noteworthy that the college has made significant progress in its renovation efforts ahead of the new academic year, including the refurbishment of faculty offices, the department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, and the department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, as well as other maintenance and rehabilitation projects.
