Under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem AlKhateeb, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy-University of Baghdad. The continuing education unit, in collaboration with Ibn Sina unit at the College, held a workshop under the title of (Experimental design of antimicrobial activity studies). It was presented by Assist. Prof. Dr.Maysoon Abdul-zahra Merdaw, a faculty member in the Clinical laboratory sciences Department. Experimental designs to study antimicrobial activity are part of the requirements of many researches that search for the effect of different materials such as medicinal plants or derivatives of chemical compounds and others on microorganisms. The workshop aimed to introduce the most important methods of evaluating antimicrobial activity and to know what these methods need to reach the results of the activity, which was also explained how to read and evaluate them. The workshop was attended by a number of professors and graduate students, and many practical aspects faced by researchers in this field were discussed. Emphasis was placed on developing an evaluation plan for effectiveness in proportion to the type of substance whose antimicrobial efficiency is to be assessed, the type of microorganisms that will be used, and the type of antibiotics that will be compared with them. This information and others can be accessed through research sites located inside the country, and some of them outside the country can be known through electronic communication. The attendees, in their capacity as postgraduate students, supervisors of studies students or academic researchers, were recommended that the application of their research plan for this field should be in reliable research laboratories from the scientific workers in them and in the presence of the researcher so that the results can be recorded and photographed accurately.
