Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Industrial Research and Development Authority of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, held an in-person workshop entitled “Recent Advances in Nanovesicles as Drug Delivery Systems: Preparation and Evaluation”. The workshop was held at the Veterinary Medicine Research and Production Centre and was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Lubna Abdul Karim Sabri, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutics Department. The workshop aimed to introduce the update in veterinary drug delivery systems, especially nano-carriers, that can enhance the drug efficacy, ensure safety, and improve ease of administration. The workshop included several topics, including the classification of nanocarriers based on their composition, with a focus on the contents of different nanovesicles (such as liposomes, niosomes, bilosomes, ethosomes, etc.), their advantages, their preparation methods both in the laboratory and industrial scale, and ways to improve the quality of pharmaceutical products. It also included a detailed explanation of methods for testing and characterizing nanovesicles, such as measuring size and dispersion index, morphological description using electron microscopy, and drug release rate measurement.
