The Faculty of Pharmacy discussed the Master’s thesis tagged (Preparation and Characterization of Olmesartan Medoxomil Nanoparticles as Oral Film) by student Rwaieda Adil Muhaisin and her supervisor, Prof. Dr. Nawal Ayash Rajab, in the Pharmaceutics Department. The thesis aimed to formulate and characterize nanoparticles of the poorly soluble anti-hypertensive drug olmesartan medoxomil in order to increase the solubility, enhance the solubility rate, and study the effects of different variables that affect the properties of the nanoparticles synthesized in order to obtain the best formula with suitable physical properties. These nanoparticles were loaded into the oral film to obtain higher solubility and more drug efficacy. The thesis included the method of preparing nanoparticles using different types of polymers in different proportions, their characterization and the factors affecting them, then preparing them as oral film and studying their properties, as well as studying the effect of storage conditions on oral film containing olmesartan medoxomil at three different temperatures. The results proved that the preparation of olmesartan medoxomil as nanoparticles by solvent anti-solvent precipitation method is the most effective process in the preparation of nanoparticles that leads to an increase in the solubility and dissolution rate of olmesartan medoxomil.
