Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person workshop entitled “Important Software Used in Pharmaceutical Chemistry,” delivered by Lecturer Dr. Sarah Sattar Jabbar, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department. The workshop aimed to introduce the participants to the importance of software used in pharmaceutical chemistry and its role in improving and facilitating research and development processes in this field. The workshop included several topics including: an introduction to the prominent software used in pharmaceutical chemistry, such as ChemDraw, Gaussian, and AutoDock, how to use these software tools for the analysis and design of chemical compounds, the applications of software in studying drug interactions and predicting physical and chemical properties and the use of software in simulation processes and guiding research for drug development. The workshop concluded that the recognition of the importance of the use of software in pharmaceutical chemistry as a fundamental tool for improving research outcomes and accelerating drug development with greater precision. It also emphasized the need for continuous training on these tools to keep up with the latest advancements in the field.
