Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit in collaboration with the Voluntary Work Support Committee organized an educational workshop titled “Towards Broader Horizons: Empowering the Blind and Highlighting Their Role in Society” The workshop was presented by Dr. Hadeel Khairallah Al-Shammari, Vice President of the Cultural Insight Organization for the Blind Care. The workshop aimed to shed light on how to interact with blind individuals, both on a personal level and as part of the community.It addressed the psychological and social challenges faced by the blind, as well as the importance of enhancing effective communication with them and providing appropriate support in various areas. The session also reviewed methods for integrating the blind into daily activities, such as education and work, and how to improve their living environment through the use of assistive technologies. At the end of the workshop, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy presented Mr. Sabah Al-Mayahi, the head of the organization, with a financial donation from voluntary contributions. This act reaffirmed his humanitarian commitment to supporting the organization’s efforts in providing services and assistance to the blind, as well as contributing to enhancing their active role in society. In return, the head of the organization presented the Dean with a plaque of appreciation in recognition of his significant contribution to supporting its initiatives and his dedication to improving the lives of the blind.
