This week, a meeting of the Industrial Advisory Council was held at the University of Baghdad / College of Pharmacy to discuss ideas and research findings presented at the recent Design Day exhibition. The council is chaired by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, and includes the college council members, the Head of the Quality Assurance Department, representatives from pharmaceutical factories, healthcare institutions, pharmaceutical marketing offices, and the presence of Dr. Haidar Fuaad Al-Saigh, the President of the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate. Several key points were discussed during the meeting, including the alignment of the college’s research with the needs of the national pharmaceutical industry. Pharmaceutical industry representatives expressed their admiration for the quality of innovation in the research projects conducted at the college and shared their suggestions regarding the possibilities and challenges related to translating these projects into marketable products.The council also discussed the effectiveness of the current curriculum in preparing undergraduate students with the skills needed to work in the pharmaceutical industry. Opportunities for collaboration between the college and pharmaceutical companies were also explored.These meetings are part of the college’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality and outcomes of its undergraduate and graduate programs by integrating the feedback and contributions of stakeholders, with the goal of better serving the community.
