Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology

The department was established in 1971 to be concerned with teaching the effect of the drug and following up its action on various organs and tissues of the body and knowing its interactions and side effects. It is also concerned with teaching toxins and methods for determining drug toxic doses and their biological evaluation, as well as the extent of their toxicity. Additionally, working on the graduates’ understanding of the physiological basis of various organs of the body as well as proper and safe medicines use through developing an understanding of the toxic mechanism of many drugs and compounds in the human body and their toxic effects in order to avoid their harmful effect and directing the pharmacy student to be responsible in caring for the community.

The department includes the following scientific laboratories: pharmcology and Toxicology, Physiology, Graduate Studies, as well as the Animal House serving the mentioned laboratories. The college awards postgraduate who graduates from department, a certificate: Higher diploma in Toxicology, Master, Doctorate of Philosophy in Pharmcology and Toxicology.
