On Wednesday, September 20, the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Sarmed H.kathum Alkhateeb, met with the faculty members in the presence of the Dean’s Associates for Administrative and Scientific Affairs. After welcoming and congratulating them on the beginning of the new academic year, the meeting included the following themes: 1) The importance of working to achieve the university’s requirements in scientific publishing and its reference quotations and H index as an indicator, This is achieved by benefiting from scientific publishing in sober journals and investing in quotes to achieve high levels of the Hirsch Teaching Index. This is reflected primarily in the benefit of the faculty member himself, in addition to the desired usefulness of the university, its reputation, and its place in the global classifications. This is a creditor of belonging and loyalty to our beloved university, with the importance that each of us work from his site to raise the university’s status. 2) Emphasis was placed on students’ attendance at the classes and the importance of daily follow-up. 3) The importance of adhering to the times of theoretical lectures and practical laboratories so that their times do not exceed 50 minutes for theoretical lectures or an hour and fifty minutes for practical laboratories to make it possible for dear students to take advantage of these times between, 4) The first students will be honored at all levels, as well as the students who have passed the estimation exams at the highest grades for each subject. The highest professors in the H. Index will also be honored at a central ceremony to be determined later this semester. 5) For the first time in Iraq, the student response system will be implemented, a system that promotes active education, interactive lectures, and communication between the student and the professor. The main objective of this system is to develop the educational process and improve learning, which will improve the scientific level of our dear students. The college will conduct several training workshops for teachers to develop their skills in this regard. Students will also be trained to obtain the best results. During the meeting, the specifications and importance of the system were reviewed, and Dr. Nawar Michael made a brief presentation on the system’s features and functions as an introduction to it. The meeting concluded with the praise of Mr. Dean for all the efforts made by dear teachers to make the educational process work and to encourage them to be part of the efforts devoted to self-utilization of teaching and skill development and to be in keeping with the development of research and academic levels.
