Under the sponsorship of Assistant Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Al-Khateeb and under the supervision of the Support Committee for Student Volunteering, a group of students from the College of Pharmacy conducted a voluntary and awareness campaign in conjunction with 40th visit of AL- Imam Al-Hussein (peace be upon him). By distributing an awareness poster prepared under the supervision of faculty members at the college entitled “Guidance on the optimal use of antibiotics” in the modern city of Imam Hussein to visitors and in the holy city of Karbala. The students explained what antibiotics are and their importance, and they provided guidance on how to use them in the right way and provide advice to avoid misuse of antibiotics. The campaign has continued for 3 consecutive days and visitors have welcomed volunteers and appreciate their role in spreading health awareness among visitors. The Support Committee for Volunteerism also visited a health center. Sumer Health Center/People’s Sector/Baghdad Health Department-Al-Rusafa and provide them with illustrative poster “guidance on the optimal use of antibiotics” and distribute it to visitors, passers-by and security forces.
