Under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Associate Prof. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, and under the supervision of the Support Committee for Volunteerism, the College of Pharmacy organized a volunteer campaign to open a medical detachment to provide health services to the visitors of the Arba’een of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him. A number of undergraduate students and faculty members participated in it in the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Professor Ameer Faisal Abdul Ameer, and the Head of the Student Activities Department at the University of Baghdad. The procession set off from the University of Baghdad, and the detachment was set up in the area of Doura Baghdad (Karbala Expressway). For three days of August 2024, from 5 to 11 p.m., some medications and medical supplies were provided, and visitors were educated by instructions on optimal use and the dangers of over-taking some medications, in addition to measuring blood pressure and blood sugar levels for visitors and healing wounds. This campaign comes in response to the university’s directives regarding the formation of volunteer committees and their readiness to provide services to visitors during the religious occasions.
