Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy, held three in-person workshops entitled:
- Making Agar plates for bacteria and fungi culturing workshop.
- Culturing and isolation of bacteria on agar plates workshop.
- Staining and diagnosis of bacteria workshop.
The workshops were delivered by Assistant Lecturer Mohammed Hassan Mohammed Tareq, a faculty member at the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Department. The workshop aimed to train participants on the basic laboratory methods and techniques for preparing nutrient media (Agar plates) required for culturing bacteria and fungi, as well as methods for isolating and diagnosing bacteria through staining and identifying them using modern microscopic techniques. The workshop included several topics including preparing culture media (Agar plates), how to culture and isolate bacteria on agar plates, various staining techniques for bacterial diagnosis, and the use of microscopes in laboratory diagnosis. The workshop concluded by enhancing participants’ skills in utilizing modern laboratory techniques and improving their capabilities in conducting bacterial tests with precision and efficiency, which contributes to the improvement of laboratory diagnosis quality in healthcare and research institutions.
