Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person workshop entitled “Aptamer-Based-Nanoparticles” delivered by Lecturer Dr. Nawar Mikhael Touma, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutics Department. The workshop aimed to introduce the concept of this type of nanostructure and its future significance as a drug delivery system. The workshop covered several key topics, including the definition of aptamers, their distinction from antibodies, their advantages, and their synthesis methods. Additionally, it explored the process of conjugating aptamers with various nanoparticles and the promising applications of these systems. The workshop concluded with the importance of aptamer-based nanoparticles as a promising drug delivery and targeting system for cancer cells, as well as their potential development into different pharmaceutical forms.
