Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Scientific Affairs Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person workshop entitled “New Synthetic Strategies for the Preparation of Bioactive Molecules” delivered by Pharmacist Haider Mohsen Naeem, a MSc student at the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department. The workshop aimed to explain new strategies for synthesizing biologically active molecules. The workshop included several topics, including an introduction to bioactive molecules, as well as explanations of both old and new synthesis strategies, highlighting the advantages and challenges of each. Finally, a comparison between the two strategies was made. The workshop concluded that each strategy has its advantages and applications, depending on its fundamental principles and the type of bioactive molecule to be synthesized.
