The department was established in 1936 as one of the main scientific department in the college to contribute to the teaching of chemistry used in the medical and pharmaceutical fields, linking the chemistry of drugs with therapeutic procedures, studying the relationship between the structural formula of drugs and their biological effect, as well as the structural analysis of drugs by using spectroscopy. The department includes the following scientific laboratories: Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Advanced Pharmaceutical Analysis, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Postgraduate Studies. The college awards postgraduate who graduates in the department, a certificate: Higher diploma, Master, Doctorate of philosophy in pharmaceutical chemistry.
