Under the auspices of the respected Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Sarmed Hashim Kathem, faculty members from the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences supervised a group of students from the third-stage of the College of Pharmacy / University of Baghdad in a scientific visit to the High Institute of Forensic Science in AL-Nahrain University, in order to provide the students with the practical aspects of the center’s work, methods of extracting and detecting DNA and RNA and the main instruments used and matching that with their theoretical courses to reach the ultimate goal of the college, which is to prepare qualified and trained pharmacists to work in various fields. Our college also highly appreciates the great cooperation and facilities provided by the Research Training Center of Forensic DNA, starting with the respected Director of the Center, who provided a detailed explanation about the evidence-based practice guidelines that are followed by the center’s specialists and how to deal with various samples for decoding DNA print and its application in molecular research and forensic evidence. The specialized work team in the center also contributed to introducing the students to the most important methods used to analyze data for deciphering the descendants of individuals whose genealogy is unclear. The students interact through the discussions and questions that were asked. A number of third-stage students under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Zainb Majeed Hashim, Assistant ProfessorSuhair Hassen Ali, Lecturer Dr. Seena Sadiq Ameen, Lecturer Dr. Aminah Ali Abid, and Lecturer Eman Sadiq Naser, participated in this scientific visit.
