On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, an educational seminar entitled “Sexual Deviance and its Negative Effects on Society” was held by the Guidance and Educational Counselling Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Department at College of Education, Ibn Rushd for Humanities. The seminar was presented by Associate Professor Dhuha Abdul Saheb Abdul Hussain Al Shammaa, a member of the Guidance and Educational Counselling Unit at the College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad, and attended by several faculty members and students.

Recommendations from the Seminar on the Negative Effects of Sexual Deviance:

  1. Emphasizing the dangers of sexual deviance and the insistence on transferring Western experiences to Arab Islamic societies, as well as the efforts to legalize and legislate it, undermining religion and the values that oppose it.
  2. Educating students about the true meaning of sexual deviance and addressing false ideas to combat them.
  3. Addressing psychological and neurological disorders such as depression, anxiety, and feelings of inferiority by consulting a psychiatrist and taking prescribed medications before conditions worsen, potentially leading to feelings of failure and suicide.
  4. Finally, reinforcing the role of human development and monitoring the relationship between material factors in human life and spiritual factors, which fortifies society against evils and disasters.
